The members of the Bolivar Fire Department constantly train both internally and externally to keep their skills sharp and ready to use when callen upon by our residents or mutual aid departments. All of the fire fighters are at the 'paid' status of 240 hours of training, and our part-time paid members are all of the Paramedic classification.
The third Monday of the month is set aside for training and is lead by one of the training officers in either fire tactics or EMS duties and functions. many of the members have taken training classes on their own time and have returned to pass along their knowledge to the other members.
One officer recently returned from a two week course on being state certified to make commercial building inspections.
Two other firefighters went to a one-week training course on 'Swift-Water' rescue. These will be very beneficial to us should they be called upon. This will not only assure a speedier rescue, but could also possibly save the lives of the civilians and our members.
Below are some pictures of a vehicle extrication class that was held at our department. This is too help make sure all members are confident in the tools and equipment they use to help save lives.
